Oh My Word, it happened. Water under the kitchen sink, under the floors, under the carpet. Oh My Word. Jump into and on it girl, you cannot take a break now. This is a mess which must be attended to; this mess took me a full 3 days to attend to and still, I have another area I'm keeping a close eye on.
Water was mysteriously appearing around the edges of the floor if anything was seated next to it. In a tiny home there isn't any excess of space (chuckle) so, you improvise. Back in the 70's there was a company which manufactured a solid compressed foam foundation covered in your choice of fabric. The first company was in Boone, NC where I loaded up my first piece of spherical furniture into the VW van and headed back home. That company is no longer in business but I found another and went with the boxy look; not as happy with it as the half round when seating or full round queen for a bed. This is a boxy loveseat/queen bed and chair/twin bed. Very comfortable but they sit on the floor. OOPS! BIG OOPS! Since I laid the flooring I realized what I had done.
Furniture had to be moved around. Twice. Ouch. At least I can chuckle now, at the time it was considerable groaning and moaning! HAHAHHAHAHA..................furniture out of the way, vapor lock in place, furniture moved again. Yeah, probably won't do that again.
Listen, we have those Cool Dudette Ladies up here that can get 'er done! Me? These girls can throw a 25-&59# bag if feed right up in the trunk. Meanwhile , I'm scooping with a Folgers can until its lightweight enough for me to pour it. 😆 It will works. Even so...Pfftt. Make do with what you have people. Not one of us is immune from life dealing us a different card than the next one. Stay humble...it could be you. I know some of these girls and admire them - stay the course girls! Sometimes you do not have any ready help and you best be on your toes to take care of situations. It had to happen.
I Do What I Can When I Can Cos MS Is A Controller.
Like it or not, 55 years of MS-y life and Not A Victim.
Off came the cabinet doors. Out came the cabinet floor. Out came the backing of the cabinet. It was soaked, mildew was located in a corner and all I could think of was to Thank God for the mess as I found a problem which could have escalated into a much larger source of problems. Thank You, God!
To you that may not sound like much but, to me, it was a real biggie. You can be a victim or you can choose to make the best of what you are dealt; change and correct what must be corrected, remember gratitude goes a long long way and a smile goes even to the heart and soul.
I'll have to replace the sink which I had shopped prior to this event knowing what I want. UTILITY BABY! It's a tiny home and I need utility! Drainboards, deep sinks, open underneath, I know what I want and will do. The repairs and changes will be looked at as facelifts, new to me, Dahling.
Did I happen to mention that in the midst of all this a clutch of six chicks was hatched? Yes, welcomed to the little piece of heaven on earth in order of 'hatch' is, Maestro, Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Vivaldi! What cuties. Why so early? That will be another post. When you hear the prowlers disrupting life out there, grab some babies and let them grow! Life cycles are sure to take place.
Hope everyone is doing well, paying attention and yeah, do yourself a favor, be genuine. Less scowling that way. Off to attend to the new wee ones at the Chix Inn Farmette.
Lovies ~
